Power BI Investment Metrics Overview
In this video, we walk through the structure of Pereview’s Investment Metrics Model in Power BI, including how dimension, filter, and metric tables are organized – and why the model is designed this way.
The goal is to simplify Pereview’s large and complex data environment for business users, giving you self-serve access to owned and sold investment data – without needing a technical background. Built using the 80/20 rule, this model supports the majority of common reporting and analytics needs, while still allowing flexibility for more advanced requests via Pereview’s report development team.
You’ll learn how the model organizes data by investment, including portfolios, assets, accounting codes, and properties – along with clear definitions of dimension tables (used for grouping data), filter tables (used to narrow report views), and metric tables (used to calculate performance). The video also covers key naming conventions, use cases for filters like book type or financial scenario, and how Power BI handles hierarchy, customization, and reporting logic.
